I thought March was supposed to be our short month, but it seems as though April is. It passed so quickly. But that is okay because it means that we only have two more months of school until our summer break!!
First of all, I would like to welcome two new employees to our staff… Ms. Danielle Gloade and Ms. Erin O’Grady. Danielle is our new grade eight homeroom teacher and she also teaches classes for the junior high school. Erin has taken over the duties of our Elementary Learning Centre. Both ladies are welcomed additions. I want to wish them all the best.
With that being said, I want to thank Ms. Joanne Julian for stepping in and helping with the learning centre this year. Joanne will be responsible for in-house subbing and conducting the assessment tests for the classroom teachers. Wela’lin Joanne.
On April 20th, LSK was asked to host the Minister of the Dept of Indian Affairs announcement regarding the Residential School Survivors project. In addition to the many media personnel who were in attendance, MP Mr. Jaime Battiste, MP Mr. Kody Blois, Ms. Doreen Bernard, Mr. Roger Lewis and Chief Michael Sack were asked to speak. Residential School survivors and their families were also invited to the announcement. This is one step closer to reconciliation.
