In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, Friendship Centres have proven their commitment to their community members in finding new ways to reach them through social media and technology! Here are a few examples of what we’ve seen over the past several weeks;
- The Pas Friendship Centre: Donation Lunch bag and delivery.
- Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre: moving the services of Chez Willy, a place of respite for the homeless / Daily updates on to set up essential services to our community.
- Mission Friendship Centre Society: Wellness Kitchen Live – Tune in every Wednesday at 2 p.m. PST
- Athabasca Native Friendship Centre: Providing online resources for arts and crafts / continuing pow wow club online.
- Canadian Native Friendship Centre: Youth engagement through online contest on Instagram / Social engagement on FB / sharing heartfelt videos and workout videos
- Hinton Friendship Centre: Providing food bank services for the vulnerable by social media or by phone.
- Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre: Started a Daily Challenge on FB.
- People of the Dawn Indigenous Friendship Center: Creating virtual spaces for community connect.
- First Light St. John’s Friendship Centre: Providing virtual and teleconference call for community and cultural programs. Online live concert on FB live. Link, Link 2, Link 3
- Native Montreal: Craft Circle: beading on FB live.
