Millbrook – The Ulnooweg Indigenous Communities Foundation has teamed up with the RBC Foundation and Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) to bring new resources to Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada. The RBC Future Launch Community Challenge is an innovative national initiative that makes grants up to $15,000 available to youth-led projects that address diverse and urgent local priorities. A total of $90,000 is available for projects in Indigenous communities in Atlantic Canada. This provides an opportunity for young people to lead, learn new skills, gain experience, and build relationships in their communities — all things that will help them prepare for their future work.

The Ulnooweg Indigenous Communities Foundation (UICF) was launched in 2018 and is working to strengthen the connections between Atlantic First Nations and the philanthropic sector. Chris Googoo, Executive Director of UICF, sees this collaboration as an excellent development and states, “We have learned during the establishment of the UICF that less than one percent of registered charities are Indigenous focused. Ulnooweg is extremely pleased to connect the RBC Community Challenge with Indigenous youth, which helps to advance the UIFC mission of bridging the gap between Indigenous communities and philanthropy.”
