On Friday, November 2 the 11 students enrolled in the 6- week Certified Safety Labourer Program graduated. “We began with 11 committed students, and we completed with 11 committed students, I could not be any prouder,” stated Michelle Francis- Denny, Boat Harbour Liaison.

The Maritime Environmental Training Institute (M.E.T.I) offered the course in Pictou Landing First Nation for the past 6 weeks, with students attending classes and experiencing hands on learning in the community. Students were able to use fork lifts, practice fall arrest and more. “Council is so proud of your commitment. You should be very proud of yourselves, you worked very hard, we hope to see you working on the remediation project in the very near future,” said Chief Andrea.
