As an eagle flew overhead, the cloudy skies gave way to sunshine as Chief Paul (PJ) Prosper of Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation and County of Antigonish warden Owen McCarron put pen to paper. The two governments met at Walnek (Summerside) on May 5th to sign an agreement that solidifies their nationally-recognized collaboration on economic development, land use and energy initiatives.

Also joining in the celebration were Senator Dan Christmas of Membertou, Senator Mary Coyle of Antigonish, CMM Executive Director Don Julien, Bill Karsten of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Tracey Menge of the Council for the Advancement of Native Economic Development Officers and Antigonish Mayor Laurie Boucher.To view the full story, you must be a subscriber.
