11 year-old Mattea Bernard recently returned from the 2016 Atlantic Gymnastics Championships held in St. John’s, NF with a satisfying 5th Place overall showing. Mattea’s results from NL were 5th all round where she placed first in the uneven bars, fifth in vault and 6th for her floor routine. Her NS provincial team won Team Gold for their combined scores.
A member of the Cobequid Spartans Gymnastic Centre, Mattea has been competing for the past three years and was the 2015 Provincial Champion as she placed first all around in her division. At the 2016 NS Provincial Championships, held on April 2nd, 2016 in Dartmouth, NS,   Mattea placed 3rd all round (Vault 3rd, Bars 3rd, Beam 4th, Floor 2nd) in the JO Level five Tyro that qualified her to compete for Team Nova Scotia at the Atlantic Championships held on April 21-24 in St. John†...
