Located about three kilometers east of Yarmouth in southwestern Nova Scotia is the Acadia First Nation. Although the Mi’kmaq First Nation is made up of five reserves across Nova Scotia, this is the community which houses the majority of residents and has the lion’s share of economic activity. In an effort to boost its commercial fishery enterprise (CFE), Acadia First Nation recently acquired new access to harvest blue fin tuna and an additional lobster fishing vessel.
