Becoming a nurse requires hard work and dedication. For Mi’kmaq and Indigenous students in Nova Scotia, the journey has often come with unique challenges, from limited culturally safe support to barriers in accessing resources. That’s why the L’nu Nursing Initiative was created – to support and empower Mi’kmaq and Indigenous students, build a strong nursing community, and improve healthcare access for Indigenous people.

Now, we’re excited to share a new website designed to celebrate Mi’kmaq nurses, share their stories, and provide essential resources for current and future Mi’kmaq and Indigenous nursing students. This website offers:

  • Background and updates on the L’nu Nursing Initiative.
  • A dedicated page highlighting Mi’kmaq nurses in Nova Scotia.
  • Pathways into nursing, along with school admission requirements.
  • Resources and FAQs for nursing students.
  • Contact information for Tajikeimik’s Mi’kmaq Indigenous Nurse Education Specialists, who offer guidance and support to nursing students.

Whether you’re thinking about nursing, currently studying, or already working in the field, this website is here for you!
