The 34th Annual Mid-Winter Feast was held on January 29 now known as the Miss Lily MidWinter Feast in honour of our esteemed elder, the Late Lillian Marshall.
Lillian revived this long standing tradition in 1989 in recognition of the Moose hunt held on Hunters mountain in 1988. Since that time it has become a way to honour our hunters and community cooks as they work together to provide a feast for our community.
This year we added a new twist. We combined our Mid Winter Feast with the Forgiveness Ceremony.
The Events opened with a smudging of the Chapel and Hall followed by a Mass that consisted of all Male readers, male altar servers and males doing the offering.
Our meal was served by the male members of the Potlotek Fire Department along with one female who kept them in check.
Keeping with the male theme, Our line up of entertainment was also all males.
Many male members of the community volunteered their cooking skills and donated up their specialty dishes.
We ended our day with a Kojua Competition in memory of the Late Anthony Battiste.
