November is the month when we remember all the veterans, past and present, who helped give us our freedom, and I am grateful for their sacrifices. It is especially important that we honour their gift to us by observing the importance of November 11th. A few years ago, I was given the opportunity to create my own beaded poppy. Every year since I made the poppy, I have worn it with pride. Just because I chose to wear my poppy doesn’t mean that I do not appreciate the veteran’s efforts for fundraising. I wear my poppy, but with every opportunity I get, I make a small donation to the collection bins. Wela’lioq Sma’knis.

As I review our calendar for the month of November, I notice that it is much quieter than the last two months. I am grateful for the small lull before the busiest time of the year… Christmas. I know that students and staff are only in school for a short time during the month of December, but a great deal of activities are packed into those days… and I couldn’t be more excited! Christmas is my favourite time of the year. Not only am I excited over the holiday, I am also excited about our annual Scholastic Book Fair. I can’t wait until my co-worker (Autumn) and I get to open all the delivered boxes. It can take us a while to set up the fair. I guess that is because we take our time looking at each and every single item… speculating who would like what and doing up our own wish lists… not only for the library, bur for us per ...
