NOVA SCOTIA – Good Influence Films is celebrating a new season of Indigenous 150+ Creatives with over 30 new podcast episodes. The episodes will be released once a week beginning in August and showcase a diverse range of Indigenous voices. The episodes were created and hosted by emerging First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth from many different Nations.
The launch of this new season celebrates Indigenous voices from coast to coast to coast and aligns with our commitment to diversify the media, celebrate Indigenous voices and help build pathways for Indigenous creatives in the media industry.
The episodes feature content from Creators enrolled in the Introduction to Podcasting program, having important conversations centred on Indigenous identities, language and culture, MMIWG2S+, trauma as well as healing and triumphs. The course is designed to support emerging creatives and teaches core media skills, and creates a safe space for Indigenous peoples to share their voices and celebrate their culture.
Many of the Creators are actively working on releasing their own podcasts this fall. One creator is Kassidy Bernard, is an L’nu (Mi’kmaq) and Scottish two-spirit youth from We’koqma’q, Unama’ki. They are in the process of creating a podcast to create space for L’nu’k to share stories, teachings and lived experiences.
