Over the past year our team has accomplished our project activities while continuously following community, provincial, and national pandemic regulations.

In the Saint Croix region, project activities involved completing barrier visits/assessments at 200 + locations, habitat suitability surveys totalling 26+ km, collecting environmental DNA samples including 48 water samples, and testing for the presence of chain pickerel to prioritize future barrier remediations. On top of completing these activities, and after the creation of the Saint Croix working group, the team added further activities, including electrofishing at 16 sites and snorkel surveys at 5 sites where we saw over 100 Atlantic salmon [Plamu] parr. We also completed Redd surveys where several Redd areas were noted, and installed 10 temperature loggers to collect daily average temperatures in the watershed. These activities were baseline assessments, aiming at evaluating the inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic Salmon population and DFO’s Live Gene-Bank Program (LGB) work within the watershed.
