This year many Remembrance Day celebrations were either cancelled or modified due to Covid restrictions. We were very lucky that both Sipekne’katik and Millbrook First Nation were able to hold smaller but still wonderful celebrations.
In Indian Brook, a church service was held, followed by speeches, the honour song being performed by Eastern Eagle and the laying of wreaths by family members. Alan Knockwood, Councillor Rufus Copage and Kayli Raye Marr gave speeches.
In Millbrook, there was no church service this year and also a smaller crowd, but the veterans were honoured and a speech was made by Dr Donald Julien, and a moment of silence was also observed.
