The province continues to find new ways to remain a climate-change leader and further advance the green economy. Communities, local governments, businesses, First Nations and non-profits can now apply for funding for their green infrastructure projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia will invest in projects for public use that increase renewable energy, access to clean energy transportation, energy efficiency of buildings and generation of clean energy.
“Nova Scotia continues to be a national leader in reducing emissions to fight climate change,” said Energy and Mines Minister Derek Mombourquette. “Communities want to do their part to contribute to Nova Scotia’s cleaner energy future and with the help of this federal funding, they will be able to put their ideas into action.”
Nova Scotia has set one of the most ambitious climate action goals in the country. The province has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 53 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030 and net zero by 2050. A new climate change strategy will be in place by the end of 2020.
The deadline to submit an application is Sept. 9.
