(L-R) Walking down the St. Ninian’s Cathedral aisle is the first Mi’kmaw deacon Tom Sylliboy with wife Bonches (Frances). For Tom the day was all too surreal and he still could not believe his five year journey had been finally achieved.
From a distance, 59 year old, Tom Sylliboy of Eskasoni may not look like your typical Deacon. People may recognize Tom as the tattooed armed, lead guitar player of Eskasoni’s 33 year old rock band the “Relatives.”
But if you look more closely, you will see a man of great faith who’s tattoos are adorned with his Christian beliefs and his love for Jesus and St. Anne, the Patron Saint of the Mi’kmaq.
