With the summer field season upon us, the Northumberland Strait Coastal Restoration Project is seeking volunteers to join them and gain new experiences and skills in saltmarsh restoration.
These exciting opportunities include going into North Shore saltmarshes with the team to do a variety of work including site assessments, which determine the health of a saltmarsh and can help find the source of habitat loss or degradation, and monitoring saltmarsh dynamics. Monitoring activities range from doing plant surveys, fish and invertebrate surveys, bird surveys, and collecting soil and water quality samples. Anybody interested in volunteering in other ways could also help organize workshops and events, create communications materials, and analyze data collected from the field.
