From the back yard trampoline to the 4-5 nights a week practices with their team, Eskasoni sisters Alexa Sylliboy and Alayah Jeddore know the hard work and determination that goes into the sport of cheerleading. Eight years ago, their parents Alyssia and Allan Jeddore enrolled them in cheerleading in Sydney, Cape Breton. After years of gymnastics, the girls were looking for a new challenge and what a challenge cheerleading has been. The two are both members of the Cape Power cheerleading team that competed this past February in Saint John, NB. The competition beat their expectations when they came back winners of the Atlantic Showdown competition with an invite to the World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando Florida and partial-paid bid of $4,000 to go towards registration costs of the competition.
