Seventeen students at the Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education (NSCECE) have benefited from the cultural bursary program. The purpose of the cultural bursary is to provide financial support to residents of Nova Scotia who are members of Indigenous, African Nova Scotian, Acadian/Francophone and Newcomer/Immigrant communities who are interested in pursuing a career in early childhood education (ECE). The Early Years Branch of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is committed to increasing cultural representation in the early childhood education workforce. There is a very high need for Early Childhood Educators in Nova Scotia and across Canada, and the cultural bursary is an avenue for students to begin their journeys to becoming ECEs.
