Keile Legge is the new NIHB Navigator for APC. Keile brings with her many years’ experience as a teacher and social worker in Inuit and Cree communities in Nunavut and Quebec over the last fifteen years. As an educator, she has designed and implemented curriculum documents for the Government of Nunavut. As a social worker, she has written, prepared, and presented Court Documents in the Family Court of Quebec. She is a strong advocate for children, youth, and elders’ rights and is especially interested in the inequities that face Aboriginals in the areas of health care and community services. She holds an undergraduate degree from Saint Mary’s University, an education degree from the University of Windsor, and her Masters in Applied Linguistics from York University where she completed her thesis paper entitled Language and the Inuit Identity: Attitudes, Values, and Beliefs about Inuttitut in Kuujjuaraapik, Quebec. She is the proud mother of two Inuit children ages 5 and 15. It is through them that she has firsthand knowledge of what it is like to try to navigate the NIHB system. Keile is excited to be working with APC and helping First Nations Peoples from around the Atlantic Provinces.
Please welcome her to APC!
