Four Cent Cake.

It has taking me awhile to make a decent four cent cake. The first few I made were burnt to a black crust. I tried my best to salvage it by cutting the outer dark layer then slicing it in half before spreading some butter on it, as I watch the butter melt away into the fluffy cloud of delicious then dipping it into my Mi’kmaq Irish stew.

Four cent cake is as Mi’kmaq as pizza is to the Italians it is one of the best known Mi’kmaq delegacy for decades, it’s simple to make, yet it’s hard to find. It’s not in the local bakery or grocery store, in fact you have a better chance finding one in the highlands of Unama’ki/Cape Breton at a Mi’kmaq hunter’s campsite or one of our gatherings.
