Fire Chief Leonard Cremo (holding the shovel on the right), is quite happy with the news of the new building.

On Sunday October 23rd, members of the Pictou Landing First Nation Fire Department, community members and other local fire departments gathered to celebrate the ground breaking of the new Fire Hall. Elder Sarah Francis started off the celebrations by performing a smudging ceremony.

The new fire hall will be located across from the fisheries compound. The new three bay building will be big enough to store all of the departments equipment and gear. For many of the firefighters, it is a huge relief. “Finally!”, said Fire Chief Leonard Cremo. “The excitement is in the air.”
