Health Project Manager

(Full Time Term Position until March 31st, 2017) with possibility of Renewal

Description: Provide project management services for the First Nations Control Models Working Group and their activities to increase First Nations control over health services.

Who Can Apply: Applicants should possess a relevant post-secondary Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. A combination of comparable, relevant and recent education and experience will also be considered.

Experience: Applicants must have at least 3 years project management experience and at least 3 years of experience working with First Nations in the area of health. The candidate should also demonstrate experience in developing and implementing work plans.

Abilities & Skills:

  • Strong analytical, facilitation and project management skills;
  • Strong organization, communication, time management and writing skills;
  • Knowledge of First Nation communities and organizations in the region;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate projects with multiple partners/stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Email, Outlook, browsers, etc;
  • Ability to speak Mi’kmaq or Maliseet would be an asset; and,
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and be willing to travel periodically.

Essential Functions and Duties:

  • Coordinate work of the First Nations Control Model Working Group to plan and implement engagement and decision-making processes towards determination of a First Nations control model or models with respect to FNIHB funded health programs and services;
  • Coordinate implementation and completion of targeted community engagement/outreach sessions;
  • Coordinate First Nations Control Models Working Group monthly meetings;
  • Completion of minutes and circulation of approved minutes to working group and communities as required;
  • Dissemination of key information on First Nations control models/governance research;
  • Dissemination of selected health material to communities, health directors, nurses, health technicians and Chiefs;
  • Ensure that Sharepoint, Health shared drive, and webpage are up to date as requested by supervisor; and,
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor.

Salary: Depending on qualifications and experience (within APC salary grid).
Location: Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Start date: As soon as possible until March 31st, 2017 (with possibility of extension)
