Welcome to one of the fastest growing events of its kind in the nation!

It debuted outside APTN’s headquarters in Winnipeg, and it’s the eighth year APTN presents Aboriginal Day Live & Celebration in Canada. The celebration is an annual event in Winnipeg and includes a twin stage in another part of the country. The network is honoured to be able to travel to Halifax, and celebrate with east coasters on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21. It’s also the first time the event is on National Aboriginal Day!

APTN invites all, Aboriginals and non-Aboriginals, to celebrate and take pride in the First Nations of the surrounding areas. Join the celebration, the FREE activities, LIVE concert and experience the fascinating mosaic of Aboriginal culture, along the Halifax Waterfront between Sackville Landing and the Sands on Salter.

The first event will be the Lighting of the Sacred Fire on the evening of June 20 – all are welcome. Listen for and follow the beating of Mi’kmaw drums that will lead you to one of eight multi-coloured wigwams where the fire will be lit. Stay awhile to learn the cultural significance of this sacred ceremony.

On June 21, the celebrations start at noon. You don’t need a ticket or wristband; all you need to do is bring yourself, family and/or friends.
