On Sunday, December 8, 2013 the Membertou Youth Chief and Council hosted their first big event, which was the first Mi’kmaq Youth Social. The event was months in the planning and went off without a hitch. There was a maximum of 200 tickets that needed to be sold, and council members surpassed their goal and only had 15 tickets left over. Youth from all over Unama’ki travelled that evening to take part in the first of its kind event. Everyone was dressed to impress, looking fabulous.
The goal for this event which was to provide the youth in Membertou and surrounding communities the opportunity to engage and participate in a fun, healthy, drug and alcohol free event.
The night started out with an introduction of Membertou’s youth chief and council. Pictures were taken by Rebecca Scirocco-Paul who volunteered her time for the youth’s cause. These pictures can now be found on Membertou’s facebook page which is called ‘Membe ...
