The Lost Teachings / Panuijkatasikl Kina’masuti’l
Halifax – October 1, 2013 – Author Michael James Isaac has done a series of readings and a book launch in support of his latest book, The Lost Teachings / Panuijkatasikl Kina’masuti’l, in Halifax.
A children’s picture book, The Lost Teachings / Panuijkatasikl Kina’masuti’l, is written in both English and Mi’kmaw, making the book unique and important. The book tells the story of the seven teachings — wisdom, respect, love, honesty, humility, courage and truth — and how interconnected they are in achieving balance, harmony and peace for all individuals and society as a whole. It’s an important message for readers of any age, but it isn’t the only message Isaac has to share.
“In many ways, this book is about the Mi’kmaw language itself,” said Isaac. “It’s about both re-introducing the language to people who haven’t heard or seen it before and preserving it from being lost entirely.”
The Lost Teachings / Panuijkatasikl Kina’masuti’l is Isaac’s second book. His first, How the Cougar Came to be Called the Ghost Cat/Ta’n Petalu Telui’tut Skite’kmujewey Mia’wj, is also in English and Mi’kmaw.
Both of Isaac’s books are available in bookstores, and online from www.fernwoodp ...
