Cape Breton University – CBU
CBU Graduates Honoured at Banquet – On Saturday, May 11, 37 CBU graduates from 10 First Nation and Cree communities across Canada celebrated their academic accomplishments at an annual banquet held at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre. The banquet, hosted by the Mi’kmaw Student Association, with presenting sponsors Unama’ki College and Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey, honoured individuals from the communities of Membertou, Eskasoni, Wagmatcook, We’koqma’q, Indian Brook, Millbrook, Pictou Landing, Listuguj, Paqtnkek, and the Cree School Board. “Our students will make a difference in our communities,” says Unama’ki College’s new President, Ekkian Stephen Augustine. “It’s an honour to celebrate with the students, and to recognize the family, friends, mentors and teachers who guided and supported them along their journey.”
