Membertou First Nation was the first Mi’kmaq Community to receive the Lieutenants Governors’ community spirit award at the annual powwow on September 8, 2012: a fitting event to showcase the culture, tradition and spirit of the community of Membertou. They have been selected as one of four outstanding Nova Scotia communities this year.
