The Seven Generations Society’s project for a Tourism Management Program delivered at the NSCC Truro Campus saw 11 Mi’kmaq graduates from the program. Of the almost 400 graduates, Virginia Michael was chosen to be this year’s NSCC Truro Campus Valedictorian! Her speech was moving, and a true testament of the power of self to overcome obstacles and personal struggles to get to where you want to be in life. Virginia thanked her mother for always pushing her and helping to get her to where she is today. A remarkable mother and role model, Virginia shared with the graduating class of 2012 to be kind and respectful to those around you.
The list of graduates are as follows from the Tourism Management class:
- Suzanne Brooks;
- Valerie Francis;
- Cheryl Gloade;
- Theresa Hardgrave;
- Marcella Hillier;
- Darren Marshall;
- Melissa McCulloch;
- Virginia Michael;
- Rose Pictou;
- Heather Stevens; and
- Jeff Wilmot.
Their core faculty was Truro’s own Anne McDonah, the co-owner of the Belgravia Bed & Breakfast.
