If you are ever in Indian Brook, Nova Scotia, you will definitely notice from afar the rooftop cross, especially at night as it illuminates the sky. Saint Catherine’s Sapewit Katlin Wutanm (SKW) is located on 509 Church Street and is the only First Nation’s parish, all others are missions. Saint Catherine’s SKW is in desperate need of donations for of repairs as you can see for yourself from the photos. Fund raising activities have begun by special members of the SKW Pastoral Council by holding Saint Kateri radio bingo every Friday night.
The inside of the church shows the water damage mostly in the balcony of the church. Another area affected by water damage is in the ceiling near the altar. Efforts have been made to slow down the damage in time for funds to be collect to repair the roof properly instead of temporary patch jobs.
If you want to help, please send your donations to: c/o Secretary/Treasurer, Saint Kateri Radio Bingo, P.O. Box 209, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia B0N 2H0.
For anyone who offers a large donation of $5,000 is eligible to receive a Blessed Good Friday Candle holder, that was used in this year’s candle light prayer. Only a limited amount was made, so it will be on a first come basis. Special thanks to Sister Claire Murphy for donating the cans and for Peter Spence for making them. Just include a note that you are interested in receiving a Blessed Good Friday Candle holder with the donation and one will be sent to you.
